Lillian Rae was born March 19, 2012 at 11:36 am. Alot of people don't know the whole story about my labor and birth, and I hate to say it mommy.. it was quite fast and short, don't hate me. Here it goes.
I started having contractions around 4 am on the 19th, which was a Monday. So i decided to start to time them. They were around 7 minutes apart. This was the first set of contractions I had actually felt, the night before, sunday night, I went to the hospital because I was having a few warning signs, thought maybe something was happening, but nothing and only 1 cm dilated, no effacement. So, back to 4 am on Monday...like i said, they were about 7 minutes apart. I went out into the loft to tell Andrew about the pain, and he was hesitant to go to work but I told him to go ahead and if anything were to happen, i'd drive myself (haha YEAH RIGHT!) So..he left and went to work and I continued to time them, they got to 4 minutes apart, so I got into the shower and they were getting worse. I called Andrew and told him to come and get me, he maybe was at work for 45 minutes at this point HAHA. So in the meantime, I did my hair and make up, yup i'm that girl. I COULD not be looking like a hot mess, I refused haha. Andrew finally made it home and packed the car and we headed to the hospital. As we parked I got another BAD contraction, so I told him after that one we would make a run for it and see how far we got before I got another one (the competitor in me! lol) We got to the elevators and BAM, i had another one. so we waited, got on the elevator and we didn't have to even say anything to the receptionist, she already knew and called a nurse.
THEY PUT ME IN THE WAITING ROOM! So as i'm sitting there moaning and groaning, they made another lady sit in the waiting room, she was also in a lot of pain. they finally placed me in a triage room so they could check me and monitor contractions. I was still at 1 cm when the nurse checked me. Her and Andrew were certain that I wasn't going to have Lillian that day (everyone knows mommy knows best) So the nurse left and Andrew went downstairs to get a drink and what do ya know, my water breaks. So as I'm sitting there soaked, I'm looking for the call button. IT'S TOO DAMN FAR FOR ME TO REACH !!! hahah, so I just sat there, getting up was not an option without help. So Andrew finally came back and he got a nurse for me, and they admitted me at 10:25 am.
I finally get settled in my L&D Room and my nurse John (best nurse ever)had a really hard time putting my IV in to get blood for an epidural. I was really puffy and swollen, so I can't blame him, he tried everywhere and finally after 20 minutes , my thumb was the best spot. He finally got some blood and sent it down to the lab, the epidural lady came up for me to sign some papers regarding the epidural. I, to this day, have NO idea what she said to me, I was in too much pain to listen to her, i just signed it! hahaha. So she left and all of the sudden, I couldn't control my body from pushing. It felt better to push during a contraction than to hold it back. I told John and my Midwife (who delivered Lillian) and they told me to NOT PUSH! COME ON! I couldn't control it. Sure enough they checked me and within in 30 minutes I had dilated all the way to an 8. Everyone ran out of the room, not what I was thinking would happen since there is a baby coming haha. They were yelling for another nurse and all their equipment, they couldn't believe I was moving so fast. Mind you, the epidural is still nowhere to be seen! John, my nurse, said that it was too late for an epidural. don't even ask me what had gone through my mind at that moment.
So with Andrew on one leg and john on the other, and no epidural... I gave 3 big pushes and her head was there, they told me to wait for another contraction to push her all out but it just felt so awkward (it did not hurt one bit, my contractions were worse than the actual birth) so I asked him if I HAD to wait for another contraction and he told me no, so I just pushed her out on my own, and Lillian was brought into this world at 11:36 am and PERFECT!!
Andrew and I are truly blessed. She is a true gift from above and I could not ask for anything more, she is truly perfect and such a sweet little girl. We enjoy every bit of her. God has blessed us for sure!
So yeah, my labor was exciting and really fast! I wouldn't have it any other way.
Did I mention the anesthesiologist came up with the epidural 20 minutes after Lillian was born! haha. Too Late!
